Eastern Red-spotted Newt
Description: A juvenile Eastern red-spotted newt (Notophthalmus viridescens), also known as a red eft. These newts live up to 12-15 years, 2-4 of which are spent as terrestrial red efts. Their bright coloration warns potential predators of the toxins in their skin.
